Sarah Lacey I qualified in 2007 with a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy and later went on to complete a post-registration MSc in Occupational Therapy in 2016. I also work part-time as a senior lecturer in higher education alongside my role in private practice.

I have over 18 years’ experience working as an Occupational Therapist working with both children and adults with neurological and complex physical disabilities.
I am an innovative Occupational Therapist, with strong communication skills both verbally and in report writing. I am flexible and pragmatic, with a proven ability to work with well with clients, their family/carers, and other professionals.
My specialist skills are in:
o Moving and handling, including single-handed care
o Upper limb rehabilitation
o Neurological splinting including Lycra orthotics
o Specialist seating provision and posture management interventions
o Goal focused functional rehabilitation programmes, including independence skills training
o Cognitive rehabilitation

o Training of others, including moving and handling training
o Assistive technologies, such as environmental control systems and off-the-shelf technologies.
Within my work teaching Occupational Therapy in Higher Education I received the University Vice-Chancellor’s award and Outstanding Academic Advisor award in 2024 and was the winner of the University Inspirational Teacher and Outstanding Academic Advisor awards in 2023, which highlights my commitment to excellence. My experience working within education provides me with key skills for my private practice, including a high standard of written and verbal communication, and front-line experience of research and evidence-based practice.
