Since qualifying as an Occupational Therapist in January 2011 I have worked in a range of health, education and social care settings, including Adult physical care and Secure Adult Mental Health services. Since 2018 I have worked in different CAMH services, including community and schools as a Mental Health Practitioner, and inpatient CAMHS as a Senior Occupational Therapist. I moved to working in a new team as an Advanced Occupational Therapist in a CAMHS Intensive Support Team for young people with ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition), which was set up as a pilot. My role was to bring an Occupational Therapy perspective to the service, along with in-depth assessment using Occupational Therapy and Sensory Integration tools, and to provide support to families.
In January 2022 I launched my private Occupational Therapy and Sensory Integration Service, Lotus OT. During the early stages I worked as an Advanced Occupational Therapist part-time on the bank in a Sensory Integration service in West Yorkshire. As Lotus OT developed quickly I had to leave this role to focus on independent work.
Contracts have included: working alongside schools, colleges, residential settings, local authorities, solicitors/ expert witness reports, and individual children, adults and families. The service specialises in working with those with Neurodevelopmental and SEMH difficulties to conduct Sensory Integration and Occupational Therapy assessments; providing education or training around sensory processing and an individual’s sensory patterns; occupational therapy and/or sensory integration intervention, as required. The aim is to provide a person-centred service tailored to meet individual needs within the home, education setting or online. Assessment packages or bespoke services are available.
