I qualified as an occupational therapist in 2013 and have worked in a community setting since qualifying gaining specialist skills and knowledge in the following areas:: - Moving and handling assessments including promoting proportionate care through assessment, tracing and equipment provision. -Moving and handling training for carers and family. - Assessments for equipment recommendations. - Assessments for minor adaptations to properties such as grab rails, bannister rails or other less complex adaptations. - Major adaptations from stairlifts, through floor lifts, ramps, bathroom adaptations, kitchen adaptations, ceiling track hoists and extensions. - Support with DFG applications. - Assessments of activities of daily living and rehabilitation plans.
In addition to complex adaptations, I have also developed skills and an interest in equipment provision delivering local training on equipment provision and work as a clinical advisor to the equipment service in my local area..
I balance my work time between my roles in the community NHS team as a Senior Occupational Therapist and Clinical Advisor to the Equipment Service as well as my private practice.
