Rachael Ash

Rachael is a Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist and Sensory Integration Practitioner with over 18 years of experience supporting children and young people with a wide range of developmental, neurological, physical, and sensory needs. Since qualifying as an Occupational Therapist in 2008, Rachael has worked across community, educational, and specialist settings, supporting children and young people with conditions including autism, sensory processing differences, cerebral palsy, developmental coordination disorder (DCD), learning disabilities, genetic conditions, and complex physical and neurological needs. In 2024, she completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Sensory Integration and is now a qualified Sensory Integration Practitioner. Rachael is passionate about helping children and young people develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed to participate successfully in everyday life. She works collaboratively with families, schools, and other professionals to understand each child's unique strengths and challenges and to provide practical, meaningful strategies that make a real difference. Rachael offers comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments and intervention for areas including: • Sensory processing and sensory integration difficulties • Emotional regulation and self-regulation • Fine and gross motor skills • Motor planning and coordination (praxis) • Handwriting and classroom participation • Activities of daily living, including dressing, feeding, and personal independence • Attention, engagement, and participation in learning • Environmental adaptations and support strategies for home and school She regularly completes assessments and reports to support Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), annual reviews, and tribunal proceedings where required. Alongside her independent practice, Rachael works within a specialist residential school for children and young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities and complex physical needs. She has extensive experience in assistive technology, postural management, moving and handling, specialist seating, equipment provision, and environmental adaptations. Rachael also delivers training and consultation to parents, schools, and professionals, helping those around the child develop a greater understanding of their needs and how best to support them. Families describe Rachael as approachable, knowledgeable, and child-centred. She is committed to delivering engaging and motivating sessions that build confidence, wellbeing, and functional skills while ensuring children feel understood and supported.
