Onitha Jarrold's profile

Onitha Jarrold BSc (hons) Occupational Therapy

I qualified as an OT in 1997 and soon after started working in paediatrics, specialising in sensory integration. Having worked in the NHS for many years, I now work independently with neurodivergent children and adults of all ages. I use a combination of my core occupational therapy skills, together with coaching skills working with you to establish goals that are meaningful in the context of your life and then help you achieve these in a way that suits your lifestyle and interests.

Having studied sensory integration soon after qualifying I am currently refreshing my skills and undertaking a post graduate qualification in Ayres Sensory Integration, to ensure I am using the most up to date assessments and intervention. I also have post graduate qualifications in executive function and health and wellbeing coaching.

I will undertake a detailed assessment to help identify the needs and outcomes that are most meaningful to you and then collaboratively design intervention and strategies to help achieve these.

I can offer input in the following areas: Devising strategies for sensory processing differences which may be having an impact on your quality of life/Organisation/Working memory/task initiation/working towards long term goals/time management/planning and prioritising/emotional regulation/managing impulsive behaviour/flexible thinking/understanding and acceptance of how your brain works.

I can also share knowledge with partners, family and work colleagues in order for them to gain a better understanding of how different brains work, helping improve understanding and communication.
