I have worked as a Senior Practitioner OT for over 20 years in a variety of mental health settings. I currently work for a social enterprise supporting homeless services, this work includes providing trauma informed OT and generic mental health assessments, running OT clinics in homeless hostels and providing OT consultation to hostel staff and residents. My role has involved the supervision of NHS OTs and numerous student placements as well as training for staff working in the sector on being trauma informed, working with hoarding, chronic mental health conditions and occasional lecturing on the OT course at London Southbank University. I now have some capacity to work independently, offering OT assessment and intervention to people experiencing mental health conditions. Work can focus on understanding symptoms, relapse prevention and understanding impact on function. With this in mind we can then work together to achieve goals around daily living, return to leisure activities, education or employment.
