Emma Cleveley's profile

Emma Cleveley Sensory Integration Network Training (Module 2)

Grow Occupational Therapy

I am a paediatric OT based in Suffolk with a particular interest in Sensory Integration. I am qualified to module 2 of the Sensory Integration Network Training to administer sensory assessments and advice to families and schools. I had previously worked within adult services (mental health, neurology, rheumatology and dementia services) until I had my own children with additional needs which reignited my interest in paediatric OT and first introduced me to Ayres Sensory Integration Theory.

Having worked predominantly in the NHS I moved to private practice in 2019 to be part of a joint SLT and OT team. I now work as an Independent Paediatric OT, mostly seeing clients in my clinic at home but also conduct home or school visits as required.

I have 3 children who have helped me understand what life with Autism and Sensory processing difficulties, hearing impairment and auditory processing disorder is like. I have seen first hand the practical and emotional struggles that accompany hidden disabilities and the benefits of Sensory Integration using Ayres Model of Sensory Integration to inform my practice.

Some of the children I see may have a diagnosis of: DYSPRAXIA & DEVELOPMENTAL COORDINATION DISORDER AUTISTIC SPECTRUM CONDITIONS (ASD) ADHD NEURODEVELOPMENTAL CONDITIONS ACQUIRED BRAIN INJURY SENSORY PROCESSING DIFFICULTIES LEARNING DISABILITIES HYPERMOBILITY/EHLERS DANLOS SYNDROME MENTAL HEALTH DIFFICULTIES

I used play based sessions to help children with their: FINE MOTOR SKILLS GROSS MOTOR SKILLS EMOTIONAL REGULATION PARTICIPATION IN MEANINGFUL ACTIVITIES FAMILY SUPPORT

OT provision includes: Initial consultation, Full Occupational Therapy assessment and recommendations, Therapeutic intervention at home or school, Application of Ayres Sensory Integration Theory, Written report for Educational Health Care Plans, Advice on environmental adaptations, Individually tailored advice for school, family or support network, Contracts with school termly provision, Formal reports.

Please get in touch to discuss in more detail how I can help. [email protected]
