I have over 16 years’ experience of doing, being and becoming a specialist occupational therapist, and I demonstrate continued personal and professional development throughout my career. Choosing to fulfill a secondment as lecturer in occupational therapy (2005-2007) and to undertake post graduate research (2008-2014) demonstrates how I have courage to step outside the box in order to make a difference for others. Through my research work I have been confident to publish and disseminate my findings at national and international conferences. In 2014, I set up my own independent practice called: Lifeworld Approach to Occupational Therapy Services Limited. This business has been formed because of my career as an occupational therapist/lecturer/researcher, and through being involved with so many valued people with their own lifeworld experiences: patients/other professionals/students/participants. The aim of a lifeworld approach to occupational therapy is to understand (interpret) the person in their world, and what is important to them.
