Denise Harris's profile

Denise Harris Published six papers in peer reviewed journals: Palliative and Supportive Care Journal of Clinical Nursing International Journal of Palliative Care Nursing The European Journal of Person-Centered Healthcare

I have over 19 years’ experience of doing, being and becoming a specialist occupational therapist, and I demonstrate continued personal and professional development throughout my career.  Choosing to fulfil a secondment as lecturer in occupational therapy (2005-2007) and to undertake post graduate research (2008-2020) demonstrates how I have courage to step outside the box in order to make a difference for others.  Through my research work I have been confident to publish and disseminate my findings at national and international conferences. In 2014, I set up my own independent practice. This business has been formed because of my career as an occupational therapist/lecturer/researcher, and through being involved with so many valued people with their own lifeworld experiences: patients/other professionals/students/participants.  The aim of my approach to occupational therapy is to understand (interpret) the person in their world, and what is important to them.
