I have many years’ experience providing occupational therapy through nature-based and outdoor activities in Essex. I work with people of all ages to improve confidence, learn new skills, reduce social isolation, and experience the wellbeing benefits of being outdoors and interacting with nature.
I lead one-to-one and group sessions, supported work experience placements, and home education and adult learning groups. All sessions are bespoke and tailored to the needs, strengths, skills, and goals of each participant.
Therapy takes place in the woodland, open spaces and calming sensory environment of the beautiful Bennison Farm Community Supported Agriculture project in Tendring, Essex. Most sessions are outdoors but shelter is provided for adverse weather. Research and feedback from clients shows that outdoor activities in natural spaces have exceptional therapeutic outcomes.
I also offer occupational therapy assessments as supporting evidence for EHCPs, PIPs and other applications. These are conducted in the farm’s relaxing, non-clinical environment and are designed to be enjoyable and relaxed.
I am also a qualified mindfulness teacher, hold a counselling diploma, and have additional training in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, trauma-informed practice, managing challenging behaviour, mental health first aid, managing anxiety in children and adolescents with autism, suicide prevention, therapeutic thinking, and all requisite compliance courses (e.g. safeguarding).
If you or somebody you know is experiencing low mood, poor mental health, difficulties arising from neurodiversity, social isolation, or anxiety, or you are looking for professional supporting evidence, please feel free to be in touch for a friendly chat.
