If you are concerned about a parent, partner or relative living with dementia, memory problems or mental health difficulties, it can be difficult to know where to turn. Changes in thinking, mood, behaviour and everyday functioning can be stressful and overwhelming for families and carers. With over 30 years’ experience, I provide specialist occupational therapy support to help older adults maintain independence, wellbeing and quality of life.
I work with people living in their own homes and in care homes. My holistic, in-depth assessments explore the person’s strengths, limitations, life history, daily routines, environment, physical health, cognitive abilities and emotional wellbeing. This provides a comprehensive understanding of how their condition is affecting everyday life and identifies practical ways to support them.
Where behaviours that challenge are present, my assessments help families, carers and care providers better understand the factors contributing to distress and develop person-centred strategies to support the individual more effectively.
I provide detailed recommendations tailored to each person’s unique needs, preferences and circumstances. My aim is to promote independence, enhance quality of life and support meaningful engagement in daily activities. In addition to individual assessment and intervention, I have extensive experience facilitating therapeutic groups that promote social connection, cognitive stimulation, emotional wellbeing and meaningful occupation.
Clients and families often value my compassionate, thorough and practical approach, which helps them feel more informed, confident and supported when navigating the complexities of dementia and mental health.
