I am an Occupational Therapist (OT) with over 25 years of experience working in both the NHS and the private sector. Although I have worked with adults, my main experience is with children. I worked as an NHS Advanced OT in Warwickshire’s Integrated Disability Team for children for 23 years and was responsible for managing a caseload of children 0 – 19years with a variety of difficulties including complex needs, life limiting illness, co-ordination difficulties, sensory processing difficulties, and handwriting difficulties. I now solely work as an Independent Occupational Therapist and work with children and adults.
I am a trained Bobath Therapist and have experience of working with children with complex neurological therapy and equipment needs. I can complete complex assessments, write reports and provide and implement treatment programmes.
Since November 2009, I have become involved in private practice and have a number of adult and paediatric cases across the West Midlands. These cases include children and adults with traumatic brain injuries, stroke, cerebral palsy, learning difficulties, spinal injuries, sensory processing difficulties and co-ordination/handwriting difficulties. I have been involved in therapy sessions, equipment, adaptations and hand splinting.
I maintain a high level of professional development and supervision by regularly attending courses, conferences and seminars in order to enhance my clinical practice. I am in the process of working towards completing the Certificate in Ayres Sensory Integration.
Outside of work I am a Brownie leader, a Parent Governor at my local school and I play Clarinet and Saxophone in a local Jazz band.
