I am a friendly and dedicated occupational therapist and sensory integration practitioner.
I have worked mostly within the NHS in autism and learning disability services, along with paediatrics and neurology. I have specialised in working with children and young people with neurodevelopment conditions, such as sensory processing difficulties, autism, ADHD, dyspraxia (developmental coordination disorder). I also work with children who have difficulties with handwriting.
I work closely with children/young people and their parents/carers and schools to enable them to achieve their potential and overcome barriers they face. My aim is to build a trusting relationship with the child and for them to experience my assessments and therapy as fun!
My reports have contributed to children gaining an EHCP and adjustments required within the school setting, along with a greater understanding of their difficulties for all of those involved.
For teenagers and young people entering adult services, I can also offer skills assessments, typically using the Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS) as a standardised assessment of functional skills/everyday living skills. These reports can enable young people, their parents/carers and social workers to plan for their future support needs, for example at further education or independent or supported living.
I am registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC), the Royal College of Occupational Therapy and Sensory Integration Network. I have an Enhanced DBS certificate.
I work across Yorkshire.
