VIRTUAL SUPERVISION ,TRAINING & SERVICE DEVELOPMENT ONLY Karen has extensive experience in using an occupational approach with autistic people those who have learning/ intellectual disabilities, people who use mental health services as well as managing and supervising occupational therapy services. She is currently offering supervision and mentoring. She has worked for many years in Community Teams for People with Learning Disabilities and worked for the past 5 years in an Intensive Support Team (including Inpatient setting) for people with learning disability. She is also experienced in project management, service development, positive risk taking as well as managing risk, case formulation, advocating for maximizing occupational identity and optimal occupational competence with individuals who use services. Karen worked in social care for 10 years, providing support to individuals in the community and managing outreach teams within social services and housing, before qualifying as an Occupational Therapist in 2006. She has a wide range of experience, particularly in the areas of mental and physical health, learning disabilities, and neurodiversity. These were developed through working in the NHS, Social Services, Housing and Educational Settings. Karen actively maintains her professional development, and developed an interest in sensory approaches through observing how individuals she worked with were more able to focus and learn and meet their occupational needs when their sensory needs were met. She is passionate about using evidence based Occupational approaches to enable individuals to achieve their goal and what is important to them.
