Clever Kids Consultancy

Karen runs her own therapy practice, Clever Kids and is also the author and training provider of Clever Fingers, an extensive SEN and 'Best Practice' strategy (recommended nationally by specialist teaching services) devised to support schools and parents in developing their children's fine motor skills. As a clinician Karen works with children with diverse needs, including those with complex, severe and profound physical and learning disabilities, neurological and neuromuscular disorders (e.g. cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophies), Acquired Brain Injuries (ABI), Dyspraxia/DCD, Sensory Integration / sensory processing difficulties, Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Asperger's and ASD

As a skilled therapist, Karen can undertake an extensive assessment and evaluation of a child's:- - gross and fine motor skills, including handwriting and the use of assistive (AT) technology - sensory development, integration, processing and regulation - visual perception skills - self-help and independence skills - equipment and upper limb splinting needs

Specialist treatment interventions include:- - the principles of Sensory Integration and Sensory Attachment - Sensory Diets - Therapeutic Listening - Wilbarger Deep Pressure Protocol - Astronaut Training - Rhythmic Movement Training - Upper Limb Splinting - Special Yoga - Emotion Works

Therapy can be provided through direct individual and/or group sessions, as well as (non-direct) individual programmes (delivered by school staff and/or parents) which are devised, monitored and reviewed to support a child's particular needs.

Karen also provides training and consultancy services to a wide variety of settings, including the NHS, educational establishments and parent forums.
