Julie Tearle's profile

Julie Tearle

Julie Tearle Occupational Therapy

I have extensive experience within the area of community neuro rehabilitation working with adults with a wide range of physical conditions.

My skills include cognitive rehabilitation, fatigue management, seating and wheelchair assessments, postural management, work rehabilitation, manual handling & equipment assessment and provision. I am skilled in neuro-splinting of the hand including the fabrication of bespoke thermoplastic splints for the management of spasticity.

I have worked extensively with brain injury, stroke, MS, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson's Disease and Functional Neurological Disorder.

My work in community rehabilitation means I have strong skills in goal setting, motivational interviewing and helping clients achieve independence in a variety of areas. I have a wealth of experience in sit to stand equipment for long term use and as part of a rehabilitation programme. I developed these skills in particular during my 7 years working in Rapid Response services. During this Rapid Clinical Specialist role I also was responsible for training the wider team in risk assessment and manual handling assessment skills.

I speak French and have worked in a neuro-rehabilitation unit in France in my earlier career as an OT.

Registered with the HCPC (OT25941) Member of British Association of Occupational Therapists and the specialist sections of Neurological practice (SSNP) and Independent practice (SSIP).
