Having qualified in 2005, I have experience working within both NHS Community Paediatric Services and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services; and also in a Special Residential School and a sensory charity. I have been an associate OT/self-employed since 2017.
I have worked with children and young people with a variety of needs and enjoy working with young people and their families to help them get the most out of life. I have extensive experience in developing programmes to gain confidence and self-esteem in social skills, fine motor skills and gross motor skills and will see your child in their own home, the park or nursery/school to help them reach their maximum potential in all environments.
I am particularly interested in supporting children's needs within a school setting and have worked within mainstream and special schools, helping staff to support young people with managing thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I have also delivered psycho-educational training to young people, caregivers, school staff and health and social care professionals on a range of topics.
I am interested in the impact primitive postural reflexes and sensory processing difficulties have on day-to-day functioning, have attended courses through the Sensory Integration Network and completed SI Practitioner training with Ulster University. I am also a qualified Special Yoga Practitioner for children with additional needs and I have studied reflex integration and Brain Gym. I have trained in the SOS Approach to Feeding and attended courses on ARFID.
