I am an Occupational Therapist with over 25 years of experience both in the UK and America with children, young people and families. I managed services and trained junior therapists for quite a while before deciding I missed working with people directly.
Occupational Therapist (OTs) work together with people to develop skills, strategies and practical solutions to be able to achieve their goals and to participate in everyday activities. Sessions might include talking but also doing. You might want to try things out to see what works whether that is a sensory activity to help you feel regulated or strategies to manage your work or keep track of time.
I specialise in working with people who are neurodiverse ( this might include: Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, difficulties with sensory processing and integration, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder,Dyspraxia, Autism) I also work with people affected by attachment difficulties and developmental trauma. The therapy I offer is informed by my training in Sensory Integration, lifestyle redesign, Occupational Performance Coaching, attachment theory, Theraplay, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy.
I also regularly carry out The Evaluation of Ayres Sensory Integration (EASI) to assess sensory processing differences; The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) to contribute to a wider assessment for ASD; and the Marschak Interaction Method (MIM) which explores the interaction between child and caregiver.
