I am a dedicated individual who is passionate about Occupational Therapy (OT) and committed to making a positive impact. My academic journey began with A-levels in Biology, Psychology, and Art, followed by a Dance Diploma in 2006-2007. Shifting to a more purposeful path, I pursued a 3-year OT degree at Cardiff University from 2008 to 2011, laying the foundation for my career.
Prior to university I undertook volunteer roles at a children's dance school, a specialist school provision, and in a preschool, which nurtured my desire to help others. My university placements were in diverse healthcare settings, including mental health, orthopaedics, stroke wards, and a children's community setting. A self-organised placement in a children's home in Croatia deepened my understanding of children with complex needs.
Post-graduation in 2011, I joined the NHS, beginning as a rotational band 5 in intermediate care and falls assessments, and in a Blue Badge assessment team. Roles in adult/elderly community care, community hospital wards, and children's services provided valuable experience. In 2015, I was promoted to band 6 within Children's services.
Since then I have specialised in working with 0-18-year-olds with diverse needs, employing holistic, client-centered, and evidence-based approaches. My focus includes conditions such as Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Condition, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Coordination Disorder, and more. While continuing my NHS commitments, I am now also working in the private sector. My journey is about making a difference, one step at a time, and using my skills to positively influence people's lives.
