I am a highly specialist and experienced Occupational Therapist focussing on housing, major adaptations, specialist equipment, complex seating, wheelchairs and moving and handling for children and young adults..
I hold a People Handling and Risk Assessment Key Trainer’s Certificate Level 4 - graded the highest level of distinction.
I assess children and young clients with a range of disabilities, from mobility problems needing a level-access shower or stair lift, to severe physical disabilities needing wheelchair-accessible facilities and specialist equipment such as hoisting, through floor lifts, specialist seating and specialist beds.
I have considerable experience in working with children with complex needs and worked in children's services for over 20 years.
My aim is to empower people with disabilities to achieve their full potential, and to enable families to care for their loved ones at home in a safe environment.
I offer client-centred assessments at home or school/college with comprehensive reports of functional needs and abilities with detailed recommendations for adaptations and equipment to increase independence.
I have vast experience of therapy equipment and have an interest in sourcing innovative technology and equipment to help clients maximise their potential.
I believe that adapting the environment is key to enabling independence and to allow safe moving and handling for carers. I liaise with architects and builders to achieve the best adapted environment for my clients.
I am experienced in assessing for slings and hoisting equipment and training carers in safe moving and handling techniques, as well as providing client specific manual handling risk assessment plans.
