After gaining a 1st class honours degree in Occupational Therapy at South Bank University, London and now living in Worcestershire I have an understanding of the challenges faced in a variety of urban and rural settings. My career has been unusual in it's diversity, in that I have extensive experience of assessment and rehabilitation in both mental & physical health services. This breadth & depth of understanding guides my knowledge & appreciation of the impact of both mental & physical ill health & disability on a person's day to day coping strategy and independence. My varied background also enables me to quickly see the bigger picture and use this information to work with my clients to analyse & plan person-focused treatment, working towards individual goals & aspirations. I am confident in advising on all aspects of equipment from small hand held items to bathroom and toilet adaptations.
I have undertaken a variety of independent work since 2017 & finally left an NHS integrated community physical health team in Dec 2022. Since that point I have been working both independently via direct approach and also via various occupational therapy associate agencies. The work has continued to be varied; veteran's charity support, for case management companies with people who have sustained life changing injuries due to accidents in life and at work and vocational assessment & rehabilitation.
A core theme throughout my work is accurate observational and assessment skills & my ability to combine both physical and mental health knowledge, always considering the psychological response to injury, accident, illness & disability.
I am motivated to continue to work on further diverse projects and welcome enquiries from all sectors.
I recognise that no two people are the same and my diverse background wholly supports assessment & treatment based on this belief.
My broad experience enables me to provide an integrated approach to analysing function within any given environment & adaptation with the ultimate aim of promoting independence, safety, wellbeing & self-esteem.
I am also extensively involved with Worcester University as a long-arm practice educator for students on the BSc & MSc Occupational Therapy courses. Most recently I have joined a team providing welfare services at festivals around the UK, working alongside the medical teams on all aspects of substance misuse, mental health, neuro diversity, access and safeguarding support.
