Jackie Cooper's profile

Jackie Cooper I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1984 from the School of Occupational Therapy, Wolverhampton.

Jackie Cooper

I have had 30 years’ experience working with older people with both physical and mental health conditions. I have worked in both hospital and community settings. I currently work part time for a Live in Care Provider supporting carers and clients with moving and handling strategies, risk assessments, equipment provision and falls prevention. I have experience in working with clients with neurological conditions, those with an increased falls risk and those with long term conditions caused by accident or illness. I am able to offer advice and assessments for minor adaptations and equipment provision, facilitating increased independence in all activities of daily living, accessing the community and improving confidence and well-being. I have experience in dementia care, providing support to both carers and individuals pre and post diagnosis, supporting with activity planning and adaptation, daily living skills and assistive technology assessment and advice. I am able to provide advice and support to facilitate and enable individuals with dementia to lead fulfilling and contented lives. I offer Individual Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (iCST) courses and training for both formal and informal carers, which provides training and resources to help carers and those with dementia engage in meaningful activities, which in turn has been shown to strengthen and improve communication and relationships. I am able to offer mentoring and clinical supervision for professionals as part of their registration and CPD requirements, this could be as an individual or in a group setting.
