Mental Health Recovery for Trauma and Neurodiversity
Living with the effects of traumatic experiences or with neurodiversity can impact your quality of life and ability to carry out the activities that you want or need to do. You might be having difficulty with any aspects of daily life, e.g., taking care of yourself, managing emotions and relationships, carrying out domestic tasks, work or study, socialising, leisure activities, spiritual or religious beliefs. I work online providing specialist mental health occupational therapy and I am passionate about helping you to live your life in the best way you can. With additional training in mindfulness teaching and sensory integration and over 25 years working as an occupational therapist, I combine these approaches to offer you an individualised programme of intervention. Initial assessment looks at your daily life; what is working well and where any difficulties are. We can then plan to make positive changes. Areas of intervention might include: Sensory and mindfulness based approaches to managing self-regulation, daily activities, emotion regulation and grounding skills. Skills for managing symptoms such as anxiety, dissociation, anger, low mood, self-harm, fatigue, chronic pain. Adapting activities. Support with organisational skills. Modifying your environment to address sensory processing differences. Supported self-management programmes for energy/sensory regulation and for safety and stabilisation.
I also offer trauma sensitive mindfulness teaching and mindfulness courses for carers. Please get in contact for an initial discussion about your needs or for more information.
My standard rate is £75/hour
