I am a paediatric occupational therapist with over 13 years’ experience supporting babies, young children, families and early years settings. My work strengthens children’s early development, sensory needs and emotional wellbeing, while also building staff confidence in areas Ofsted has identified as needing improvement.
Recent Ofsted findings show that many practitioners have not received specific training in babies and toddlers, with some believing teaching or guided physical development is unnecessary. This leaves teams unsure how to support the smaller developmental steps children must take before reaching big milestones and leaves families feeling confused, worried or alone when everyday routines become difficult.
I help settings and families bridge this gap. My training gives practitioners clear, practical understanding of early physical development, sensory processing, regulation, participation and developmental differences. Staff learn why children may be struggling and how to provide targeted support that improves independence, engagement and wellbeing.
Alongside this, I work directly with families to support early development at home. This includes guidance on toileting, feeding and weaning, dressing, school readiness, managing meltdowns and building emotional regulation. My approach is compassionate, simple and rooted in everyday life, helping parents feel confident and helping children feel safe, capable and ready to thrive.
I also offer online support for new mums navigating early motherhood, helping them feel calmer, more confident and less overwhelmed.
Parents have told me they feel “so much more confident” and would “highly recommend working with Helen in any capacity” after working together.
If you’re looking for practical, evidence‑informed guidance that strengthens both staff practice and family confidence, I’d be delighted to help.
