I have extensive experience working with clients in the community. My core goals are always to enable the client to be as independent as possible within his or her own home and social environment. I am a committed and client- focussed professional, and am a strong advocate for my clients' needs and requirements. I work closely with families and other professionals involved in their care, support and rehabilitation, including case managers, to ensure that the assessment and recommendations always address their physical, social and emotional needs.
I have practised across all client groups, most notably adults with long-term conditions and physical disabilities. I have experience working with acquired brain injury cases, and spinal cord injuries, striving to ensure that any long-term effects on everyday living needs are managed.
I have specialist knowledge of housing and adaptations, including recommending and sourcing suitable accommodation for people with disabilities. I have worked extensively with housing associations and borough councils to meet the functional needs of their disabled residents, including advising on new build projects and property refurbishments. I also have a key trainer certificate in people handling and risk assessment through Edge Services.
I am a member of the College of Occupational Therapist's specialist sections in housing and independent practice, and maintain a high level of continuing professional development.
