I specialise in the clinical areas of housing, adaptations, equipment and moving and handling. I have extensive experience working with adults with a wide range of long-term conditions and complex disabilities, and also support to meet the housing and moving and handling needs of children and young people, alongside my paediatric colleagues.
I am passionate about occupational therapy and am a committed and client-focussed professional. I strive to ensure my clients can function as safely and independently as possible within their own homes and social environments.
I am skilled at completing comprehensive housing and equipment assessments (and reports), working collaboratively with my clients and family members, carers, treating therapists, case managers, architects and contractors, to ensure all of my client's functional needs and wishes are taken into account during housing projects.
I hold a Level 4 Advanced People Handling and Risk Assessment Key Trainer's Certificate, providing bespoke/ client-specific risk assessments and training to privately employed support teams.
I am highly experienced at working within the context of litigation, having previously been a clinical case manager for 7 years alongside my occupational therapy role. I maintain positive working relationships with clinical case managers, solicitors, and Court of Protection deputies, to ensure that I can act as a sound advocate for my client's functional requirements and wishes.
I have also worked extensively with housing associations and borough councils, to assess the functional needs of their disabled residents, including advising on new build projects and property refurbishments.
I am a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT), plus their specialist sections in housing and independent practice, as well as the National Back Exchange (NBE) and BackCare. I maintain a high level of continuing professional development.
