PEOPLES Occupational Therapy is a service based on up-to-date theory and research evidence to ensure the best outcomes for children, young people, families, and schools. Founded by Dr Teresa Joyce, PEOPLES Occupational Therapy focuses on partnering with clients to achieve meaningful goals using techniques that have been proven to work. Rather than 'traditional' approaches aimed at 'fixing' generic underlying skills (e.g. improving fine motor or balance skills) we deliver intervention focused on increasing participation in everyday life (e.g. handwriting, bike riding). This is because research has shown that working on specific activities in context leads to better outcomes compared to generic underlying skills practice1. We acknowledge that children, young people and their families are the experts on their condition and lived experience. We therefore work in partnership with you to jointly identify and problem-solve challenges to everyday life together. We provide a range of services including: one-to-one sessions, free and paid for resources, school packages, and online training. We also actively engage in the development of the Occupational Therapy profession through research and teaching. Therapists have teaching and research fellowships at Oxford Brookes University and Coventry University London, have secured research grants, published papers, and spoken at national and international conferences. Peoples Occupational Therapy are dedicated to supporting children, young people, and their families to live life to the fullest and achieve their goals.
