Dawn Rushbrook Accredited MOCA assessor

Independently You

Independently You is an independent practice based in Dorset providing holistic Occupational Therapy assessment, intervention and guidance.
We offer early intervention for people who are starting to struggle with everyday tasks and/or hobbies. This may be due to a diagnosis of a long term condition, (such as dementia, Parkinsons, MS, stroke or other lifelong condition), physical disability or age-related decline in physical and functional abilities. We passionately believe that timely assessment soon after receiving a diagnosis can enable people to live safer, more independent lives, in their own homes for longer. This is due to both professional experience as a Senior Practitioner in Adult Social Care and through lived experience of having a parent who is living with dementia. Independently You offer assessment, advice and support when planning adaptations to homes and have trusted contacts within the construction industry to assist with delivering these works and can provide ongoing support/project management for the duration of the works if this is required. We also offer a consultancy service when moving to a new home to advise on long term property suitability and any adaptations the property may require to ensure it meets current and potential future needs.

We can provide impartial independent advice and guidance on equipment purchase to support mobility and safe transfers.

Independently You also can provide support with applying for LPOAs and PIP assessments/appeals.

Please contact us for a no obligation conversation about your situation and how we could work together with to you maximise and maintain your independence.
