Waves Occupational Therapy

Dawn, a 2014 graduate from the University of the West of England with a BSc in Occupational Therapy, embarked on her career within child and adolescent mental health (CAMHS). Her journey traverses diverse settings—acute, community, and educational—where she customises sessions for individuals, honing expertise in various challenges and disabilities faced by both children and adults.

Dawn's commitment to growth extends beyond her work hours as she continually attends training courses, expanding her knowledge and clinical skills. Presently, she is an independent occupational therapist at The OT Practice as well as having her own practice, Waves Occupational Therapy. She evaluates and treats clients across homes, schools, or nurseries, utilising specialised interventions to unlock their potential.

During her tenure at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust (RCHT) from 2018 to 2022, she focused on community paediatric therapies, crafting evidence-based treatment programmes for children. Dawn liaised with families, conducted assessments, and provided suitable equipment to promote independence and function.

Her previous role at RCHT's Acute Assessment and Discharge Unit (2015–2018) showcased her adeptness in evidence-based interventions, care plan development, and patient equipment provision. Moreover, she contributed significantly to Cornwall Foundation Trust (CFT), working in the adult mental health team and CAMHS, honing her skills in complex needs and mental health interventions for both children and adults.

Dawn's educational journey includes a BTEC National Diploma in Childhood Studies, AS Human Biology, and postgraduate training in Sensory Integration Theory. Her commitment to ongoing education is evident in recent training modules focusing on sensory integration and retained primitive reflexes, showcasing her dedication to professional growth.
