Claire Devonport's profile

Claire Devonport BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy Post Graduate Training In Sensory Integration

Kids Optimal

I am experienced in providing comprehensive assessments and interventions for functional challenges that impact children’s day-to-day life such as gross and fine motor skills challenges, sensory processing difficulties, emotional regulation, seating and postural management. Children’s individual strengths, motivations and interests are always at the centre of my interventions and I apply a variety of therapeutic tools to support the specific needs and goals of the child. As well as working with individuals I have worked within both mainstream and specialist school settings, offering a coaching approach to provide staff with the knowledge and skills to apply class-based strategies; as well as supporting schools to set up group interventions to support functional skills. I have a particular interest in supporting children and young people who find attending school challenging and working closely with schools, families and children to support mental health, anxiety and emotional regulation needs in order to make school feel accessible and safe. I am passionate about early intervention but also believe that my role as an occupational therapist allows me to support children at all stages to be as independent as possible.
