I have specialised in Neuro-Rehabilitation since 2010 and have worked with individuals experiencing difficulties as a result of; Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Brain Tumours, mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI sometimes referred to as concussion) and other neurological conditions. including Functional Neurological Disorder. Since 2020 I have worked with individuals experiencing Long Covid/CFS.
Since 2021 I have worked in an occupational health, assessing and making recommendations to guide employers on how to support individuals with disabilities in the workplace
In my rehabilitation role, my holistic, person centred approach enables me to work alongside an individual and target what is important to them to help guide the recovery process, therefore goals may range from managing fatigue to see friends, to regaining upper limb movement to get back to golf, to returning to work.
Interventions are specific to an individual’s needs and I do a lot of work supporting people to manage symptoms including fatigue, mood and anxiety changes, sleep disturbance, visual difficulties and behavioural changes. Other examples of interventions might include: • Recommending equipment to enable dressing independently with use of one hand • Advice for an appropriate wheelchair following injury • Cognitive rehabilitation to manage memory difficulties as a result of an injury or illness • Problem solving to support a return to social and leisure activities • Guidance to support a return to work and consideration of reasonable adjustments
I have been an independent practitioner since 2013 working with self-referring individuals and case managers as part of the litigation process.
