I have my own private practice whilst also working for the NHS. I have worked in child development centres, special and mainstream schools, paediatric departments and private practice supporting clients with autism, learning difficulties, ADHD, dyspraxia, Developmental Coordination Disorder, sensory processing difficulties, neurological conditions, acquired head injury, etc.
In my practice I take my time to do in-depth assessments that bring clarity to the issues the child is facing as well as an understanding of their strengths and skills. This assessment forms the basis for forward planning whether that includes all or any of the following: individual therapy sessions, modifications to the child's environment, advice, strategies and programmes for home and school, family therapy sessions, etc. I take a child centred approach to helping them participate and achieve what they want to do and have to do in their everyday functional activities.
I seek to be an active member of the team around the child, liaising with education, social work, other health professionals, etc.
"Coming to Catherine is one of the best things we could have done for Hudson, who has dyspraxia and sensory processing issues. He is able to do so much more than he was able to do before and he LOVES coming here - it is essentially an extremely clever play session! We also understand his issues and how to deal with them so much better, which has been invaluable for us all. Cannot recommend Catherine enough.” Inge, parent and doctor.
I also provide mentoring and supervision for other therapists.
