Becky Micklethwaite's profile

Becky Micklethwaite

Participate Childrens Therapy

I qualified in 2011 and then specialised in neurological practice, providing neurorehabilitation and complex disability management for adults and children – discovering my passion for using my critical appraisal skills to ensure evidence-based treatment.

In 2019, I moved into paediatrics, working in a National Specialist Centre for children with brain injury – discovering my passion for working with children and young people and gaining experience in a wide variety of treatment approaches to overcome physical, cognitive, sensory and behavioural challenges associated with the child’s brain injury. In particular, I enjoy the fun and creativity of working with children and young people - personalising activities/resources to maximise therapy motivation and participation.

I also began working in the private sector, with children with brain injury and have a special interest in enabling/enhancing participation in the community, partnering with children and families to co-create life after acquired brain injury. I recognise that empowering the people around the child ensures the necessary knowledge/skills to maximise the child’s autonomy and provides the environment they need to thrive.

In 2022, I decided to combine all my passions - working with children and young people after acquired brain injury in their home and community – and set up Participate Children’s Therapy.
