I am a highly experienced Occupational Therapist, qualified since 2005, with specialist expertise in brain injury and spinal cord injury rehabilitation. My clinical background spans acute hospital settings, specialist neurological rehabilitation services, and community-based practice, giving me a comprehensive understanding of the rehabilitation pathway following neurological injury.
Over nearly two decades of practice, I have developed advanced clinical expertise in the assessment and rehabilitation of individuals with acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, prolonged disorders of consciousness (PDOC), minimally conscious state (MCS), dementia, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, functional neurological disorder, and cauda equina syndrome. I have worked extensively within specialist neurological rehabilitation units, delivering structured programmes for spasticity management and upper limb rehabilitation, alongside sensory stimulation, postural management, and complex seating and wheelchair assessments.
I routinely undertake detailed functional, cognitive, physical, and environmental assessments and design evidence-based, individualised rehabilitation programmes to maximise independence, safety, and participation. I have extensive experience managing complex presentations involving physical, cognitive, behavioural, and psychosocial impairments following brain or spinal cord injury.
My professional practice includes significant experience within local authority services, supporting individuals with complex needs through rehabilitation, enablement, equipment provision, and housing adaptations. I am skilled in managing high-complexity caseloads, coordinating discharge planning, completing Mental Capacity Assessments, undertaking risk assessments, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, families, carers, and external agencies.
I have also developed specialist expertise in medico-legal occupational therapy, particularly in cases involving brain and spinal cord injury. I have completed Bond Solon Civil User of the Bar (CUBS) training and have a thorough understanding of Civil Procedure Rules and expert witness responsibilities. I undertake comprehensive home assessments and produce clear, objective, and well-reasoned expert reports to support litigation.
I am committed to maintaining high standards of clinical governance, professional development, and evidence-based practice, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality, person-centred rehabilitation for brain and spinal cord injuries.
