My areas of expertise include extensive experience working within acute and community settings for both Adult Social Care and the NHS. My roles have involved complex case management of people with a wide range of neurological conditions including Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) and Parkinsons. In addition, I have worked for many years supporting people with dementia.
I have considerable practical knowledge in major adaptations for clients with complex physical disabilities and life changing injuries, and I regularly provide moving and handling assessments and advice.
As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) I have the skills required to ensure comprehensive assessment of clients, considering their social history and current needs, medical background, functional and cognitive abilities. This level of assessment allows me to provide a personalised rehabilitation plan, including setting goals to maximise independence and ensure optimum client outcomes
My career has always involved effective collaborative working within a multi-disciplinary team, using a shared decision-making approach. This has often included being an advocate for the client and/or their families, to ensure person-centred care is always implemented.
I am a member of the College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Sections in independent practice and Older People.
I continue to maintain my continual professional development.
