Abbie Sinfield's profile

Abbie Sinfield BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, PgDip Sensory Integration

Hello my name is Abbie and I am an Occupational Therapist, experienced in working with children who have Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) and children presenting with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. I specialise in supporting the physical and mental health of children with neurodevelopmental conditions, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Dyspraxia (Developmental Coordination Disorder).

As a playful and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist and Advanced Sensory Integration Practitioner, I have a genuine passion for supporting children's sensory needs. When working with children I create a safe and caring environment, fostering effective therapeutic relationships throughout interactions.

I engage children in assessment and intervention through play-based approaches, appropriate to the individual needs of the child. The aim of assessment is to determine whether the child has any difficulties with their everyday activities (learning, playing and looking after themselves). Intervention/ treatment aims to provide practical support or environmental modifications to help the child be as independent as possible in their everyday tasks. As a qualified Swimming Teacher I also have a passion for supporting children to access swimming and sport!

I provide Occupational Therapy to schools and families, including meeting the Occupational Therapy provision within Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs). I also provide staff training, individualised to the needs of the setting and am able to offer supervision to Occupational Therapy students on traditional and role emerging placements.
