I am a qualified Occupational Therapist and a member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and The Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT). I have worked with adults in NHS and social care in various fields including stroke, manual handling assessment and training, neurological conditions, dementia, care of elderly for the last 16 years. I have worked with children, many of whom have a wide range of physical and learning needs, including conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism, autism spectrum disorder, dyspraxia/ DCD, sensory processing difficulties, co-ordination difficulties and developmental delay. My role included enabling children to participate in everyday life, their assessment and recommendation for specialist equipment within homes and educational settings, providing advice for children with sensory processing difficulties and providing therapy interventions for children with neurological disorders. I am currently working within Social Care, carrying out assessments of home environments for equipment and manual handling with both children and adults. I am passionate about ensuring services are person-centred and holistic. I understand the importance of joint working with the service user, their family/carers, as well as other professionals involved. I do clinic and home visits as required. I have completed all my mandatory training. I am part of independent practice group through RCOT. I have clean DBS and driving licence. Along with being an OT, I am also a mother. I love listening to music, playing and watching movies with my children. I am a keen learner and feel there is so much information to gain and develop myself – both as a therapist and as a human being. I can speak Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, and English.
