Thank you for visiting Kids Can Therapy, a Children's Occupational Therapy service providing expert support for children and young people with a range of conditions, including Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD/ Dyspraxia), sensory processing difficulties, ADHD and Autism (ASD).
Your child may experience difficulties in some of these areas:
• Attention and concentration in class, making it more challenging to engage and learn
• Fine or gross motor coordination difficulties affecting handwriting or other developmental and self-care skills
• Sensory processing difficulties impacting their behaviour or ability to cope with sensory experiences, for instance bathing or the feel of certain clothing
• They may present as a very fussy or selective eater
Change is possible – your child and family can get the help that is needed and I would love to offer my support.
I‘m able to provide comprehensive assessments, including EHCP assessments at home and nursery or school. A range of standardised tests and clinical observations are used to identify the underlying difficulties affecting the skills needed to manage independence in daily tasks.
Tailored recommendations will be provided to you as the parents and the education providers to enable you to support your child’s development in the best way.
Therapy sessions are offered at home or school and aim to improve the underlying difficulties your child is experiencing, while addressing functional difficulties, for instance handwriting or self-care skills. Therapy provision will be tailored to your child’s specific needs, depending on the cause of the difficulties and the therapy goals that are important to you and your child to achieve. Effective, evidence-based practice is used to achieve the best results possible.
I would love to discuss your child's needs and how I can best support them at home and at school. Contact me to arrange a call. Why not visit www.kidscan.co.uk for more information?
What others have said: "We are very grateful to have found such a kind and wonderful occupational therapist with Mrs. Alta Crockett. She has a sincere vocation for her occupation and genuinely strives to help children become their best selves. Our son has improved tremendously and Mrs. Alta's guidance has also helped me as a mother understand his needs and motivate him to keep improving his skills."
"My son (aged 8) was struggling with handwriting and a short attention span. This was having a negative effect upon his confidence at school, and also affecting his behaviour. It has been transformative for him - he is thrilled to be able to write more easily and clearly. His teachers agree that he is far more confident, happy and attentive in class as a result. Thank you!"
