Karen provides services to children, young people and adults of all ages working to enhance clients independence and improve their quality of life. This could be through providing equipment e.g. a powered wheelchair or suitable armchair or rehabilitation to improve their function in daily living activities. Karen works with case managers to provide reports following an assessment to recommend housing adaptations that suit the clients needs now and in the immediate future. She has been involved in assessing and sourcing these adaptations and equipment within the private sector. Karen provides cognitive behavioural programmes working alongside the client, their family, carers and other professionals aiming to manage the cognitive deficits or challenging behaviours appropriately. Karen has specialised experience in posture and seating, in being able to assess a clients posture in wheelchairs and provide options for the client on what products would provide an improved posture in the wheelchair. This includes considering pressure management, clients ability to control the wheelchair and the wheelbase itself. Within this experience includes the ability to assist with sleep disorders, moving and handling, pain and fatigue management following injury.
