Karen has extensive physical and mental health experience working within the NHS, independent providers of healthcare, charitable organisations and private practice. Karenï¿½s clinical expertise is within adult rehabilitation, including living with long term conditions (neurological, cancer, dementia, anxiety, depression). She has worked as a clinical specialist for Macmillan providing psychosocial support to adults. Karen is passionate about providing therapy and services that clients want, when they need and want them. She is able to engage and empower individuals with complex physical and mental health needs. She has training in Sensory Integration and Processing and is also an Accredited Assessor of the International outcome measures, Assessment of Motor & Process Skills (AMPS) and Evaluation of Social Interaction (ESI). Karen is able to provide effective case & condition management that includes active collaboration, and balancing the need for care to optimise quality of life. This includes Advocacy for clients and their families. Karen has also completed Department of Health approved training as a Best Interests Assessor. Karen established Dog Assisted Therapy for Change (a not for profit organisation) to complete research into how structured Dog Assisted Therapy may impact on the quality of life for people living with dementia and autism.
