I am an experienced Occupational Therapist based in Dorchester with a background in community work.
I qualified from The London School of Occupational Therapy in 1988 and have worked continuously since then in a range of roles within Occupational Therapy.
I have many years experience working as a Senior practitioner in community settings both in Adult/Social care and within NHS teams. I have also worked for two private companies with people with acquired brain injuries.
My main experience has been in social care where I have developed a wide knowledge of adaptive equipment, housing adaptations and community facilities. I feel strongly that the community is the best setting for assisting clients to make the best of their lives. I have skills and knowledge in adaptive equipment housing adaptations and rehousing, seating including postural management and moving and handling.
I have also worked in people with brain injuries in the community and in long stay care where I have been able to develop my OT skills and knowledge further.
I keep my CPD up to date by attending short courses whenever possible , by learning from other professionals and by reflecting on my own cases and practice. I am a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and also of the RCOTSS-IP, the specialist section for private practitioners.
